The caterpillars in Iris Class are very hungry and they are getting longer and fatter every day. The children have enjoyed seeing the changes in them as they journey onward on their quest to be a beautiful butterfly. This week we used different types of pasta to record the different stages of the life-cycle of a butterfly and we used signs and actions for each stage to help us remember what happened next.
We have been making invitations to send to parents and carers, inviting you to come to our pretend wedding. It will be in the afternoon on Friday 24th May at 2pm. Lots more information to follow but one parent has already offered to make us a wedding cake. Very kind...thank you.
We have been counting on using number lines with some children and some children have been thinking hard about what the two digit numbers look like, making sure the digits are in the right order and the right way round, and trying hard to count a higher amount of manipulatives accurately.
The children have had a phonics assessment this week and every child had made some progress which is brilliant. On the back of the spelling home learning booklet is all of the sounds and all of the words that the children should know. Please have a look at see how many your child can identify and then practise the words they need to consolidate. Add any evidence to the Interactive Learning Diary to support our in-school assessments.
Please remember that our trip to West Lodge Rural Centre is on Tuesday and it looks like the weather is going to be sunny and warm. The children can wear non-school trousers, jeans, leggings etc but with their purple school PE tops rather than their jumpers or cardigans as it is going to be warm. We will send home PE kits on Monday.
Thank you for your continued support.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
