The highlight of the final week of the first summer term in Iris class was the role play wedding. The children had been learning all about weddings from a range of cultures including a range of styles of weddings. Our wedding took place in the open air of the school courtyard and the venue was beautifully decorated by the children and the staff. A massive 'thank you' goes out to Mrs Hunkin who kindly made us a wedding cake which looked beautiful and tasted delicious. Thank you. The children loved being able to dress up in their party clothes and the bride and groom looked stunning. Thank you to everyone who donated cakes, crisps etc and to those of you who joined us for the afternoon. It was so lovely to see so many parents and carers in school.

We hope you enjoy the week's break from school. Remember to keep reading and writing please. We look forward to seeing you again on Monday 3rd June

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
