We have been using the story of Little Red Riding Hood this week as our lead text. The children have been acting out the story, describing the characters and writing sentences about the story. They loved pretending to be the different characters.

In maths we have been adding and taking away by counting on and back. Some of the children were able to have mixed equations to work out trying hard to think about which way they needed to count. Keep practising to write those numerals the right way round please.

We have been learning about a variety of different animals and finding out where they live. Then we compared England with some of the different countries where the animals lived to find out similarities and differences.

Miss Wills leaves us on Friday. We wish her lots of luck as she moves onto her next adventures.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
