The Three Billy Goats Gruff lead text has been our driver this week for lots of our learning this week. We have loved acting out the story, changing our voices for the different characters.

In maths, we have been learning about telling the time using 'o'clock' and 'half past.' It has been lovely to see more and more children wearing analogue watches with clear numbers on. This will really help them. We have also been learning about 3D shapes, such as cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders and spheres this week. The children have increased their ability to name the shapes and they are also able to use some mathematical vocabulary to describe them. Keep looking for them when you are at home and out and about. Maybe you could bring some into school to share with us all.

Monday is our class assembly. The children are really excited to perform for you and they have worked really hard. The assembly starts at 3 o'clock in the school hall. We look forward to welcoming you on Monday at 3pm.

During the next two weeks we will be taking every opportunity to visit Demeter Class and for Miss Gilbert and Mrs Hay to visit us in our classroom. On Friday afternoon, the children will be going into Demeter Class to spend the afternoon with Miss Gilbert and Mrs Hay.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
