The children have settled beautifully into the routines of the day at school. We have had our first PE lesson in the hall for the morning children and the morning children have also been to the hall for their lunch which was very exciting! The children used their knives and forks well to eat their food. Any practise with this would really help your child too.

We have begun our phonics learning by looking at the sound that, 's' and 'a' make and thinking about things that begin with that sound. We have been singing nursery rhymes and sharing our resources as well as listening to stories. A super first week.

Please can I remind everyone to ensure that their child's clothes are named and please encourage them to have a go at independently undressing and dressing. We don't expect miracles but lots of the children didn't know where to start with undressing for PE. Your help at home will really help your child to feel more successful. Thank you. The children need plimsolls or trainers in their PE bag and an extra pair of socks if they are wearing tights.

Next week the children will swap their timings for school so we look forward to welcoming them on Monday for the opposite time slot.

Thank you to those people who have registered for the ILD; everyone should have received a letter with their unique password on it. Any problems or questions about it please just ask.

Enjoy the sunshine at the weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday. Thank you for your support this week.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
