The number three has been our focus this week. We have been playing Treasure Island in PE where we had to only have three children on our island. We've been working out which group has more than three in it and which group has less than three in it. The children were trying to trick Mrs Dickens when they took their learning into the continuous provision. They were building towers and asking me "which is more?" or "which is less?" Mrs Coles was using the cars to make part, part, whole of three. We will continue finding out about three next term including thinking about shapes that have three sides.

In phonics we have been improving our blending of sounds. We have been using the real letter shapes as our letter/sound recognition has improved to increase our blending and reading. Over the holiday please try and consolidate the letter sounds we have taught during this first term so we will be off and running at the beginning of next term.

We were lucky to have a visit from our local PCSO, Mike, this week, who spoke to us about keeping safe during Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Thank you to everyone for signing up for a Parent Consultation appointment, we look forward to seeing you for your ten minute appointment on Wednesday 6th November and Thursday 7th November.

Thank you for all of your support this term. The children have been amazing. Enjoy the holiday.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
