Poseidon have had a fantastic first week full of fun settling in activities!

At the start of the week, with Mrs Spencer, we made our 'Reach for the stars' target hands, where the children have set some of their own learning and attitude and approach targets for the year. They also did some 'Power of yet' comments...

They created a Birthday chart whereby the children got to draw their own faces and label this with their name to put alongside their birthday month.

We wrote a recount of our summer holidays and shared these with the rest of the class. We were all very ambitious and were able to use some interesting words and ranges of sentences to hook the reader.

Our topic in History this term is Romans. This week we have made the effort to hook the children by creating some replicas and objects that associate with the Romans -

So, we made some paper mosaics - using lots of small coloured paper and arranging these in a pattern and; began our Roman helmets using a balloon and papier mache. Guess what!?! It was disgusting! but lots of fun.

In Maths we started looking at place value and using concrete resources to represent number as well as pictorial.

In literacy we have looked at a setting/scene where we all imagined we were in and brainstormed some fantastic description of our what our senses would be experiencing. We will begin to write them up tomorrow in a style of choice.

Thank you
