This week we have started our proper lessons! The children are still getting use to some changes to the structure of the day but are coping extremely well.

We enjoyed painting our pebbles on Monday - we all painted a pebble, an image/pattern/picture to represent ourselves. They turned out great - just need to varnish ready for our school display (garden). Those who were away will get a chance to do one.

A lot of the children expressed enthusiasm about their first French lesson in year 3!

On Wednesday we enjoyed our 'cold task' of creating our shape poems about Autumn. These were super; great use of description and similes about the Autumn weather and senses we get from this season. They were all unique. To follow on from this, we will be learning about shape poems and what is expected in them. Thursday we looked at onomatopoeic words - a bit of a mouthful!

In maths, at the start of the week, we have been using number lines to add and subtract. From Wednesday we have been testing our estimation and the ability to work systematically by placing 2 digit and 3 digit numbers on unmarked number lines. Everyone had a different approach. Friday will be to investigate this further through inquiry and testing.

Closer to the end of the week we began to look at our new approach to PSHE in year, starting off with how we are connected and creating targets that we can achieve by the end of year 3 together with some describing words for how we will feel WHEN we achieve these.

Our first P4C session in RE was a success. We watched a clip about a frog and a scorpion relating to the question: 'Who was responsible?' and 'What makes me, me?' Some great discussions from many. Our final thoughts on this will be up on our display door.

Thank you
