This week Poseidon acted out the life of a pebble. We found out how they are formed and how they have changed shape over millions of years.

We will be writing our own story of a pebble shortly.

In Science, we have learned about the three types of rock.

In maths we have used Venn and Carroll diagrams. We carried out our own inquiry, we needed to collect data to answer a question.

We have been given our lines ready for our assembly at the end of January.

On Wednesday, we walked to our local area and lake to take some observations and sketches of features we noticed. As it was so cold we decided to come back a bit early and finish our sketching in the warmth of the classroom using a picture we took from the Ipad. In the afternoon the children transformed their sketches into charcoal art work - which are superb! Great use of texture and shading.

In maths later on in the week we took our learning of fractions of amounts to try and solve worded problems - this was challenging and even though we didn't get through lots of these we got the majority correct. We will practise some more on Friday.

In literacy we used our expanded noun phrases and preposition phrases to add detail in our character descriptions about Uncle B.

On Thursday afternoon we created our own hedgehogs out of clay and will be using these in our future lessons to support our dialogue lessons.

In PSHE this term we are focusing on healthy bodies and the children have designed a 'fitness challenge' which we will be practising next week in order to strengthen our heart and lungs.
