In maths this week, we have been looking at multiplication and division.
"We have been drawing arrays and partitioning to solve multiplication and division problems" - George.

In literacy, we have started looking at writing our myths. We have planned these and started to write them!
"We have been writing the opening of our myth and then we edited our work to add description to it" - Maisie.

In science, we looked at magnets and learnt about how they can attract or repel objects.
"Using the magnets, we tested different items to see which were magnetic" - Emily.

In Jigsaw, we continued to look at our Learning Charter for the class. The class decided which values and attitudes were important for the classroom. In pairs, we then drew pictures to show different elements of our charter. We continued to explore this when we had our first Student Council Meeting. Our class student councillors reported their findings from their learning walk around the school. We then discussed our learning and approach to see what the class could do to make the classroom a better learning environment.

In geography, we looked at land use in Egypt.
"We were writing postcards using adventurous vocabulary to describe Ancient Egypt and modern Egypt" - Jenessa.

Year 3 are given weekly homework that is set on a Wednesday and handed back in for marking on a Monday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Friday. Throughout the year the type of work that they will be set will vary with each half term having a slightly different focus.
