This week we have continued to explore multiplication. We have looked at multiplying by 10s and 100s and have learnt how to use the grid lesson to solve multiplication problems.

In literacy we looked at speech marks and this has helped us to include speech when we continued the writing of our myths. We have nearly finished writing them and are looking forward to publishing them!

In science, we tested magnets. We had to create our own questions and think about how we could answer them. We then carried out the investigation and recorded our findings.

Our Religious Education this week saw us looking at the different colours of the Church year. We had different activities to explore the different colours and what they represent.

In Jigsaw, we looked at different families. We explored how everyone has some things that are similar but how we are all different and this makes us unique.

In D&T, we had our food tasting session with Year 4. We got to try different healthy foods, exploring their textures and tastes. We then thought about which of these foods might go into our muffins when we make them! It was a really nice opportunity to try new foods, and we even liked some foods we didn't think we would!

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for 'Come and Read'. We enjoyed reading to you.

Year 3 are given weekly homework that is set on a Wednesday and handed back in for marking on a Monday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Thursday. Throughout the year the type of work that they will be set will varying with each half term having a slightly different focus. MyMaths will be used at different points throughout the year as the set homework but is available all year round for extra practice. Please continue to practise your times tables as we are now using the Times Table Marathon to track which times tables the children know, ask your child about this. We are enjoying the challenge and it is helping us to make progress with our multiplication knowledge..
