Welcome to our first blog of 2019. It has been lovely to hear all about what the children got up to during the holiday. Poseidon have settled back into class very well and are working hard on our new topics. We started looking rocks this week and have been finding out where they come from, this included looking at volcanoes. In science we made very careful observations of different rocks and used magnifying glasses to look for details.

We made some fantastic art work of volcanoes using pastels, we had great fun smudging and blending the colours. As we are reading a fabulous book called ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’ in Literacy we decided to go on a rock hunt around the school to search for one of our own. We couldn’t believe how different they all were!

“It was really hard to choose one to put in my pocket, they were all so different,” said Emily.

We also got to bake our healthy breakfast muffins. What a success! Thank you to the children for their brilliant behaviour whilst waiting for their turn and whilst cooking. We hope you enjoyed the muffins at home too.

“They tasted delicious,” said Zachary. “We had to measure the ingredients carefully, “ said Adam.

We have been focusing on place value in Maths this week, we have used games and practical resources to consolidate our knowledge of 2 and 3 digit numbers and what happens when we divide and multiply by 10.

What a great start to the new term. Well done Poseidon.
