We are really making progress with our recorder playing. This week we followed a ‘bubble grid’ to help us stay in time. We even popped a few bubbles to make some longer notes.

George said, “We made our own rhythms for our recorders and we are going to rehearse them so we can perform them to the class.”

In art we studied ammonite fossils and tried to make a colourful version using watercolours. We tried to blend and smudge the colours to create different effects.

Jessica said, “We painted fossils using the watercolours, we learnt to not use too much water or it will rip the page.”

Darcey said, “We tested different combinations of colours and techniques, like using a wet page to dab the colours onto.”

In Maths we have learnt how to use column subtraction and know how to exchange (borrow) from other columns.

Harry said, “We learnt about subtraction, we exchanged tens and hundreds.”

In Literacy we learnt the poem ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Wright, we rehearsed it in small groups and then performed it to the class. We tried to use a clear voice with lots of expression. Then we wrote our own poems about a magic box and what we would put inside it. We had to think of things that we would want to keep forever. We had lots of creative ideas.

I will put in the box
All the marshmallows in the world
The sound of sweet birds tweeting
The smell of a summer day
