This week in maths we have continued on with our fractions learning. Counting in tenths and using pictures of chocolate bars to help us count in fractions. On Wednesday we had to colour by numbers using fraction of quantity.

In literacy we started the week with SPAG learning and then on Wednesday we looked more closely at our class text Friend or Foe by completing comprehension questions where we had to use our inference and deductions skills.

To celebrate World Book Day we started by creating character descriptions of the story book characters that we came dressed up as and then some of us got to share. Some fantastic costumes. After break we did a problem - solving task called 'Lost in the Library'. The children worked in 3's to break codes linked to literacy and maths problems.

During Reading Buddies today Year R, 3 and 4 played 'What's Up' game in Poseidon with Mrs Townend guessing the book character using clues.

We then tackled Where's Wally puzzle then created our own for our own character and setting of choice.

Tomorrow we are beginning our Ww2 TOPIC.

Year 3 are making our own Anderson shelter in DT projects this term and kindly ask you to send in any recyclable materials for this: cardboard boxes, tubes, tin foil, bubble wrap,....

Thank you

Year 3 are given weekly homework that is set on a Wednesday and handed back in for marking on a Monday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Thursday. Throughout the year the type of work that they will be set will varying with each half term having a slightly different focus. MyMaths will be used at different points throughout the year as the set homework but is available all year round for extra practice. Please continue to practise your times tables as we are now using the Times Table Marathon to track which times tables the children know, ask your child about this. We are enjoying the challenge and it is helping us to make progress with our multiplication knowledge.
