It has been a very busy week at Hall Meadow with parents evening and the final few days of Beat the Street. Everyone in Poseidon has been very excited when checking the leader boards!

On Wednesday we joined lots of the other classes on a Beat the Street walk around the local area. All of the children behaved impeccably and demonstrated their knowledge of road safety when walking around. A huge well done to everyone in both Poseidon and the whole school for being so active during Beat the Street!

In the classroom this week we have continued to look at column addition and subtraction and all of the children are beginning to have a go at questions without hesitation, which is great to see.

We began a new science topic this week, rocks! There are so many different types of rock and we will continue to look at some of them in more detail over the coming weeks, including fossils!

We ended the week with a visit from James Dasaolu as part of Sport for Champions. The children really enjoyed taking part in the exercises and lots of the children had the chance to met him.

Hopefully we will have just as much fun next week!

How you can help!

Practising spellings with your child for a short time regularly is the best way to help them learn. Reading at home with your children regularly is also a great help to their learning. Children have an independent reading book that they take home with them and this can be changed within the classroom once they have finished reading it. Each child then works within a group to read a more difficult book, guided by an adult. This is a guided session so we talk through the book in lots of detail.
