What a few weeks we have had! There have been lots of things happening both in the classroom and out of the classroom recently and everyone has been very enthusiastic.

We are continuing to learn all about rainforests and have so far looked at where they are located in the world, animals that live there and the layers of a rainforest. All of our rainforest lessons have allowed the children the chance to ask questions – some of which we have had to google as a class. It is great to see the children so enthusiastic about what they are learning about and always wanting to learn more.

In science we have been looking at plants and flowers. We have grown our own plants and designed an investigation to find out how much water plants need to grow. So far the plant with no water is growing the most!

Everyone had great fun making smoothies as part of both our topic and our English work. There were lots of different fruits bought in which led to some interesting flavour smoothies! All of the children have written some brilliant instructions on how to make a smoothie in English and had great fun whilst doing it.

In art this term we have been looking at drawing cartoon rainforest animals. Once we had drawn them we coloured each drawing using a different material – paint, felt tip, pencil crayon, oil pastel and crayon.

The reflections the children came up with following the activity were great and all children draw a final animal using their preferred colouring material.

Maths has been very tricky recently – we have been looking at multiplication and division. Whilst it was a challenge, it really demonstrated how perseverant everyone is, no one gave up and everyone really tried their best. This has certainly shown in the first test we have had to complete this week. Some fantastic results and lots and lots of improvements.

Homework continues to be outstanding with lots of children producing some excellent pieces of work! Miss Bell has changed the spelling test format this week, hopefully all children have the spelling list for this week. We will give it a go and see how we get on.

Thank you for your continued support, it is really appreciated.

How you can help!

Practising spellings with your child for a short time regularly is the best way to help them learn. Reading at home with your children regularly is also a great help to their learning. Children have an independent reading book that they take home with them and this can be changed within the classroom once they have finished reading it. Each child then works within a group to read a more difficult book, guided by an adult. This is a guided session so we talk through the book in lots of detail.
