This week in reading we started our new book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It is about a boy called August and he has a facial disfigurement.  Others make him seem different because of his disfigurements.

“It is really gripping.”

“I enjoyed the class discussion about the front cover of the book.”

We have been adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers this week in maths. Some of us have been doing this in word problems too. At the start of the week some of us didn’t know how to do it but now we can all do it confidently and will be moving on to multiplying and dividing fractions.

“I enjoyed adding and subtracting fractions.”

“I enjoyed adding really hard fractions”

We have been doing some really creative things in art and we are all proud of our lino printing designs and patterns.

We have also painted some amazing and creative poppies to decorate our windows. They are all very nice and ready for the 11th November.

How you can help!

Home Learning

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking on a Thursday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Friday. Homework is an important part of a child’s transition to secondary school, as when they are there they will be expected to balance and meet deadlines, so please encourage your child to complete their homework on time. Your child may also want to complete extra revision of topics they have struggled with at school.
