This week some of the class have been doing a lot biking!  They have been taking part in the Bikeability scheme to improve their confidence when cycling.  They all had a great time cycling on the school playground and in the streets neat to school. Most of the people who took passed levels 1 and 2.

“I really enjoyed it, it was fun and enjoyable but the instructors were strict (they need to so they could keep us safe.)”

This week in English we have been writing diary entries.  We have been writing from the perspective of the main character – August Pullman.  We have completed our first draft and will use next week to revise and edit these.

We have been doing lots of problem solving this week. It has been great fun working with people who we don’t usually work with. This week has been enjoyable – we can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week!

On Friday our class walked to the War Memorial to lay a wreath on behalf of our school.  We listened to a poem read by Izzy, Lennon, Ralph and Eleanor and held our own minutes silence.  We will remember.

How you can help!

Home Learning

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking on a Thursday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Friday. Homework is an important part of a child’s transition to secondary school, as when they are there they will be expected to balance and meet deadlines, so please encourage your child to complete their homework on time. Your child may also want to complete extra revision of topics they have struggled with at school.
