This week in Zeus we have been finishing off our own myths and we have been planning our harvest poems creating some spectacular sentences and we have just started writing them, already they are amazing!!!

The past week in maths, we have been studying long multiplication, long division and short division. We also did a maths test on Monday – there were some very tricky questions!

On Monday, we played our first ever rugby match against our classmates. We also practised our tackling (tag taking). We persevered and played fairly. We also discussed the rules for rugby and made sure we did not cheat.

TIP: Make sure (if you are playing rugby) stay in a line especially for defending.

Our topic is the Ancient Greeks. We have been researching, writing and finding out facts about them. My favourite activity was art and making up our own mythical creatures. It’s really fun and it’s a great experience for us.

How you can help!

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking on the following Thursday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Monday.

Home Learning

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis.
Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practiced; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
