In English this week we have finished our non-chronological reports on the oceans. We have worked really hard on producing informative texts, that are also interesting and engaging to look at and read. We have also carried out SATs practice tests and we should all feel extremely proud of how we have done in our reading assessments. We have shown excellent inference skills and answered questions accurately.

We have completed 3 maths assessments this week. Lots of people think that they have made good progress with their maths assessments in areas such as fractions, reasoning, reflection and symmetry and coordinates. We are looking forward to finding out how we have done.

Other Subjects:
In RE we have been learning about the Easter story and Holy Week. We asked lots of questions about this. In PHSE we have been learning about keeping ourselves safe. We had a really fun PE lesson as Mr Palmer got out all the apparatus and we had a great (and challenging) lesson. We worked hard in groups to come up with a gymnastics routine.

We are really looking forward to showing you our excellent artwork at our art exhibition after school on Monday 25th March. Our work will be available to purchase. The Zumbathon will be taking place on Saturday 23rd April. The money raised will go towards purchasing a defibrillator for the school.

How you can help!

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking on the following Thursday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Monday.

Home Learning

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis.
Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practiced; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
