We launched our new theme this week by doing some "Big Art"! We worked in groups, using our knowledge of colour mixing to produce large scale versions of various Aztec Gods. The results were brilliant and will soon be on display in our classroom.

In Maths we have been revising our understanding of decimal numbers, including place value of numbers up to 3 decimal places and multiplication and division of decimal numbers by 10,100 and 1000. We have also began daily SATS survival tasks in arithmetic, to help us to consolidate key written methods.

Our English work has focussed on working collaboratively to research about Aztec gods in order to produce non-chronological reports, which will be part of our Aztec display.

How you can help!

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking by the following Thursday. This consists of an English and Maths task based on the learning in class that week. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Friday.

Home Learning

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis.
Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practiced; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
