This week's Blog has been written by Owen and Louis. Read on to find out what Year 6 has been up to!

In Maths this week we have learn how to calculate missing angles in different 2D shapes. As well as this we have learnt how to calculate opposite angles and angle around a point. We have also started to do a weekly arithmetic challenge to get us ready for SATS!

In English we have written the first draft of our holiday brochure page on Mexico. We have been editing and improving our work independently for spelling and grammar errors. Next week we will be writing our final versions which will appear in next week's Blog.

In PHSE we have been thinking about our goals in life. Finlay said that he would like to be a DJ! We then planned our steps to reaching that goal. We played the game connectivity and invited people to sit next to us who we do not usually work with.

On Wednesday we had a visit from a professional drummer which was great. We had a Samba drumming assembly and then took part in a workshop. Then we got to perform to our parents at the end of the day. It was really fun!!

How you can help!

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking by the following Thursday. This consists of an English and Maths task based on the learning in class that week. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Friday.

Home Learning

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis.
Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practiced; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
