Children’s Mental Health

At Hall Meadow Primary School, we believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where they can thrive both academically and emotionally. We are committed to fostering the wellbeing of our students as part of their holistic development.

What Wellbeing Means to Us

Wellbeing encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social health. When children feel safe, valued, and supported, they are better equipped to achieve their potential and handle challenges with resilience.

Our Approach to Wellbeing

We use a multi-faceted approach to ensure that our students' wellbeing is always prioritised:

  1. A Positive School Environment

    • A culture of kindness, respect, and inclusivity is at the heart of our school.
    • Our values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are embedded within our school.
  2. Mental Health Support

    • Our well being lead is trained to support children in all aspects of their development and when needed, she is able to signpost for further support including from professionals and external agencies.
    • The chosen PSHE programme, CORAM SCARF is designed to support children to develop self-awareness, manage stress, and build resilience.
  3. Physical Health and Fitness

    • Regular physical education classes and extracurricular sports keep pupils active and healthy.
    • Nutritious meal options are provided through our school cafeteria.
  4. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

    • Programs like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution are integrated into our curriculum through Zones of Regulation, movement breaks and sensory breaks.
    • Opportunities for group collaboration help foster teamwork and empathy.
  5. Parental Engagement

    • Open communication channels ensure parents are involved in their child’s journey.

Resources for Wellbeing

  • Dedicated Staff: Our wellbeing lead is  available for one-on-one support, a further two members of staff are trained in Mental Health First Aid.
  • Safe Spaces: We have a sensory room, wellbeing room and small group learning area for pupils to access should they need to throughout the day.

Recognising and Responding to Challenges

We understand that each child is unique, and challenges may arise. Our team is trained to:

  • Identify early signs of stress, anxiety, or other wellbeing concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with families to provide tailored solutions.
  • Partner with external experts when specialised support is needed.

Wellbeing Beyond School

We encourage children to maintain a balance between schoolwork and personal interests. We enjoy celebrating achievements outside of school as well as those within the school day.

Together for Every Child

Your child's wellbeing is a shared journey. At Hall Meadow, we are dedicated to partnering with families to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed in every aspect of their lives.
